About the Ministerial Council on Energy: The Ministerial Council on Energy is the national policy and governance body for the Australian Energy Market, responsible for delivering the economic and environmental benefits for Australia resulting from implementation of the Council of Australian Governments national energy policy framework.

National Energy Market Reform

In 2003 the Ministerial Council on Energy agreed to a package of reforms to Australia's energy market covering governance and institutions, economic regulation, electricity transmission, user participation and gas market development.     Information on the work program for the development of the National Energy Customer Framework package to complete the transfer to the AEMC and AER of national distribution and retail energy regulation functions.
